A fire engulfed two storage trailers at Holy Trinity Diocesan High School last week.

The trailers, which are used to store athletic equipment, were completely destroyed. The blaze, termed suspicious by the Nassau County Fire Marshal and the Arson/Bomb Squad, also caused some damage to the adjoining gymnasium wall, ceiling and roof. The fire department estimated the damage at $50,000. Six units and over 45 firefighters from the Hicksville Fire Department responded to the blaze.

According to Owen Magee, spokesperson, Hicksville Fire Department, flames leaped as high as 60-70 feet in the air before the fire was finally extinguished.

He stated the origin of the fire is very suspicious because there appeared to be no means by which the fire could have been accidently ignited, electrical or otherwise. An investigation is currently under way.
