Congratulations to the Hicksville Americans Soccer Club Boys U-7 Tournament Team, the Hurricanes! The boys took third place at the Brentwood Soccer Club Father's Day Tournament on June 19-20. This year, the Hurricanes also took first place at the East Meadow tournament on Feb. 14 and fourth place at the Plainedge tournament on Jan. 10. In the Brentwood tournament, the Hurricanes had to play a total of five games.

On Saturday, the boys played three intense games of soccer against the Woodhaven, St. Margaret's and Merrick Soccer Clubs. The Hurricanes won against Woodhaven with a score of 4-1. Hurricane scorers were Stephen Trifilio, Gregory Opera and two scores by Tyler Arnone. Game two against St. Margaret's gave the Hurricanes another win of 3-1. Hurricane scorers were Tyler Arnone, Brian Freire and Stephen Trifilio. The Hurricanes' third game against Merrick was the toughest. At first, the Hurricanes were losing 0-2. But the Hurricanes were able to make a big comeback to win 4-3. Hurricane scorers were two goals by Tyler Arnone and two goals by Brian Freire.
On Sunday, the boys played, yet again, two more games agains West Islip and St. Joseph's Soccer Clubs. These were the two top teams in the tournament. The Hurricanes tied West Islip with no score 0-0. In the last game of the tournament the Hurricanes saw their first loss to St. Joseph's with a score of 1-3. Brian Freire scored the Hurricanes lone goal late in the game which placed the Huricanes in third overall.
Zachary Hoeing played a terrific goalie throughout the tournament. He received great defensive support from James DiMartino, Chris McLaughlin, Phillip Vitanza and Michael Torellus. Magnificent midfielders included Terence Pfeifer, William Heuser and Michael Calahan. The outstanding offense included Tyler Arnone, Brian Freire, Stephen Trifilio and Gregory Opera. The Hurricanes were very excited to take their third place trophies home to Hicksville. Go Hurricanes!
