The Hicksville Ice Hockey Freshman team was thrown a detour in this season's quest for the Freshman A title in the High School Hockey League of Nassau County. In only their second season, they compiled a record of 17 wins and 3 losses on their way to a second place finish in the regular season behind arch rival Massapequa. An early season 6-12 loss to Massapequa was later avenged with a 5-3 win to set up the second place finish and a semi-final match with third place Garden City. The title series with Massapequa was shelved when a surging Garden City team was overlooked in the semi-final match. The Freshman Stars' season and a 6 game winning streak came to a premature end in the 3-5 loss. The two teams had also split wins during the regular season. This happens often in Freshman hockey as focus and concentration usually come a little later in amateur hockey. But this lesson will not soon be forgotten. This team is eager to pick up where they left off and are looking for a few good "young" men.
