It Could Happen Again
The Storm of 1938. It was a devastating hurricane that hit eastern Long Island in that fateful year. The total cost of damage on Long Island between the Jones Inlet and Montauk Point was estimated at $6.2 million (at 1938 prices) and over 50 people were killed as the storm cut across the island into the New England region. The storm destroyed or damaged a thousand homes and farms, countless automobiles and has been ranked as the sixth costliest storm of all-time.

3rd and 4th Grade Girls Lacrosse Enjoys First Season
Congratulations to Hicksville's first ever third and fourth grade girls lacrosse team which just finished its inaugural season. Twenty-two girls who never played lacrosse before started over three months ago with little skill or knowledge of the game. But, their dedication and hard work resulted in a very successful season. The progress they made individually and as a team was tremendous. Beginning with an exhibition game against Wantagh at Hofstra Stadium, it was clear that the girls were catching lacrosse fever.

Undefeated Season for Young Asteroids
The Hicksville American Girls U-11 Soccer Team, the Asteroids, just finished their spring season. They did an outstanding job and steadily progressed each week. They finished their season with four wins and one tie. The team was fortunate to have a wonderful trainer, Marisa Pistone from the Hicksville High School girls' soccer team.
