Senator Schumer Meets Local Press
United States Senator Charles Schumer came to Long Island on Friday, May 22, and met with representatives of local weekly newspapers at the Nassau County Bar Association. The senator had a busy schedule, meeting with the Long Island Lawyers group before meeting the reporters and following that meeting with a meeting with leaders in the Long Island Breast Cancer Coalition.

Martin J. Massell Appointed to Town Board
The Oyster Bay Town Board appointed (May 18) Martin J. Massell of Hicksville to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Thomas L. Clark. Mr. Clark, a conservative, often represented a business/technology view as he served on the board. He left his $40,200 part-time job to be the full-time commissioner of DPW at a salary of $79,800.

JV Lacrosse Takes League Title
The Hicksville High School JV Lacrosse team finished off a spectacular season with a 13-3 thrashing of the previous league champion Farmingdale, which included a breathtaking first quarter that saw Hicksville take a commanding 6-0 lead. The win gave the Comets a league record of 10-0 and an overall record of 14-1.
