The Oyster Bay Town Board appointed (May 18) Martin J. Massell of Hicksville to fill the seat vacated by the resignation of Thomas L. Clark. Mr. Clark, a conservative, often represented a business/technology view as he served on the board. He left his $40,200 part-time job to be the full-time commissioner of DPW at a salary of $79,800. The Hicksville High School JV Lacrosse team finished off a spectacular season with a 13-3 thrashing of the previous league champion Farmingdale, which included a breathtaking first quarter that saw Hicksville take a commanding 6-0 lead.
