The boys' fifth-grade PAL lacrosse team improved its record to 2-1 by defeating Hicksville, 7-1.
Andrew Kohlmann got the Green team off to a fast start scoring two early goals and assisting on two others. Five different players scored in a true team effort. Lenny Mormino scored two goals and Lyle Hoglund scored one goal and assisted on three others. Corey Reiser contributed one goal, and played hard the whole game. Charlie Starke had his best game of the season adding two assists. Stephen Johnsen played hard and also added one assist. Jordan Mosca's unselfish play added one assist, and scooped up many ground balls. Kevin Sheehan, a strong defensive player, broke through Hicksville's defense and scored his first goal of the season.
The defense, led by Anthony Venezia, Patrick Santoro, Joey Hegmann, Lenny Mormino and Kevin Sheehan, gave tremendous support to James Bungert's first start in goal. Bungert made many great saves, allowing only one goal for Hicksville. Danny Penza, Chris Rogers, Michael O'Halleran and Joey Marve all contributed to a great team victory.
The fifth-grade Green team travels on May 2 to play the undefeated Bellmore/Merrick team at 3 p.m. at Calhoun H.S.
