It began more than sixty years ago, in a small community on Long Island, called Hicksville. The pastoral landscape that surrounded this small hamlet was about to be changed forever, and from this serene and humble place came what would prove more lasting than its pastoral images and just as genuine and pure. In the late 1930's Richard Hogan Sr. was born.
While local civic organizations supported the application for a special use permit needed to open a Dunkin Donuts restaurant at 490 Old Country Road, residents bordering the property and Town of Oyster Bay Councilman Thomas Clark spoke out against it prior to and at a public hearing in Town Hall East in Oyster Bay.
After failing to place in last year's championship competition, the Hicksville Starlet Kickline team returned to prominence earlier this month, as they were crowned Long Island Champions in the pom routine at the Scholastic Kickline Competition at Nassau Community College.
