The Celtics of St. Ignatius CYO Basketball's 5th-6th-7th-grade division, completed a successful season by playing in the league championship game on Thursday, March 5. Although the outcome was not a victory, the boys played a smart, tenacious basketball game which typified their rewarding season.

The Celtics received outstanding guard play throughout the season from Keith Bacotti, David Hernandez and Mike Pesale. Patrick Fahy and John Wasilewicz shared the demanding center duties and never stopped battling. Excellent all-around play from Eric Akner, Ricky Fama, Kevin Staton and Chris Stubbe gave the Celtics one of the top frontcourts in the league.

The families and coaches of this group of young men are very proud of them. They displayed a level of dedication, teamwork and pride throughout the season that cannot be measured. All are unselfish players and good sportsmen.

The Celtics congratulate the League Champion Suns and all the other players and coaches of the 5-6-7-division. Special thanks also to League Director Fred Jaeger and Referee Kevin Sullivan.
