The William M. Gouse Jr. Post 3211 VFW celebrated its 63rd Anniversary with a dinner and dance at its VFW Hall.
The Master of Ceremonies, and chairman for this happy event, was Post Chaplain Barney McCartan. He was assisted in preparing the dinner/dance by Connie Steers, the post quartermaster, and Mike Belfiore. The Post Jr. Vice Commander, Howard Liebman, was the Journal Chairman.
The night was opened in prayer with an invocation by McCartan. PPC William Frohnhoefer then led the congregation in saying the pledge of allegiance and singing the Star Spangled Banner. Timothy Glover introduced the Post Officers and PPC William Bennett introduced the past commanders of the Post. President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Carmela Vitiello, intoduced the Ladies Auxiliary officers and its past president. Honorary guests at the dinner were TOB Councilman Thomas Clark and John Mauro from the Charles Wagner American Legion Post 421.
Standing in for County Executive Thomas Gulotta was Lawrence Altenburg, chairman of County Veterans, who presented the post with a plaque in recognition of the anniversary. Steers accepted the plaque on behalf of the post.
A large turn-out of post members and members of the ladies auxiliary and their spouses and guests made the VFW Hall a jumping swinging place. Everyone filled the dance floor, moving to the tunes of the '60s and '70s played by DJ Gary Rehn. The 63rd Anniversary Dinner/Dance was a big success thanks to the efforts of MaCartan, Steers and Belfiore.
It was a busy weekend at the VFW Hall. On Sunday, the day following the dinner/dance, the Ladies Auxiliary had an Italian Valentine Festivale. A buffet was served with many favorite Italian dishes.
