Awards Money to Help Relocate Local Eye Bank
More advanced eye surgery techniques and tools will soon be available at the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH), thanks to a grant from the Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF). The grant matches the $75,000 that has already been raised by local Lions Clubs, providing a total of $150,000 towards the purchase of new equipment for high-tech cornea transplant surgeries.Construction Begins on New ED at NUMC
Construction Has Been Funded Through a
NYS Department of Health Grant
Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, announced the start of construction for the new emergency department, to be located on two floors of the Nassau University Medical Center, the Project Labor Agreement (PLA) with the Nassau Suffolk Building and Construction Trades Council and all the local unions affiliated with the Council and a commitment by Plaza Construction to achieve a goal of 25 percent minority/women owned business enterprise (MWBE) in the emergency department construction.
What to Do in Case of H1N1 Flu-like Symptoms
Due to the potential for an outbreak of H1N1 flu, South Nassau Communities Hospital is coordinating with the Nassau County Department of Health and other area hospitals to protect the health of patients, visitors and hospital employees.
