Team Fox organizer Andrew Allen of Great Neck and Long Island Scooter Club president Angelo Liguori of Levittown will hold a charity ride on Sunday, April 25 to raise funds for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF).
This “motorized” cycling event is open to motorcycles and scooters!
The event will encompass Kings Point, Port Washington and Bayville. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m., gathering at 9 a.m. for breakfast at The Bagel Mentch of Great Neck on Middle Neck Road.
Andy hopes to enable the Foundation to continue aggressively funding research to find better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s disease. He is riding as a member of Team Fox, the foundation’s project for supporting grassroots community fundraisers working to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s research.
All riders must sign in beforehand and must have helmets plus provide an emergency phone number. A donation to the MJFF is also suggested.
Nearly five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease - a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder whose symptoms typically progress from mild tremors to complete physical incapacitation. There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease. Current treatments mask symptoms but do not alter or slow disease progression.
The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research is dedicated to ensuring the development of a cure for Parkinson’s disease within this lifetime through an aggressively funded research agenda.
Enjoy the camaraderie and fun —- for a good cause!
