The spectators and fans who attended the 4th/5th Grade Girls PAL Soccer League Champion game at Memorial Field on Nov. 22 were given a special treat. Both teams played their heart out, but the Cyberrays came out on top by just one goal. Erica Levy and Romi Sofi each scored goals for the Cyberrays. Erica was the Cyberrays’ top goal producer throughout the season and continued her torrid production when it counted most.
Jada Thorne, Sara Decarle and Olivia Lundelius formed the core of the Cyberrays defense, with Jada continuing her act as a human wall and stymying nearly every offensive threat by the Philadephia Charge. Sara covered the entire field and chased the ball around like it was a sack of gold! Jamie Spiel, Nikki Gualitieri, Avigail Aziz, Adina Kohanim and Carly Menker each made plays worthy of the highlight reel and contributed to the victory. Camryn Lessing was a star as the goalie, making a lunge to stop a shot on goal with 30 seconds remaining in the game.
The team missed Katie Tropp-Levy, who couldn’t make the final game, but was a season standout, primarily playing mid-field and siphoning the ball away from opposing players. It was a close game, with both teams making numerous attacks on goal and each team playing a strong defense. When the game ended, fans and spectators rushed the field to offer their congratulations to the Cyberrays!
