There will be fire on the ice this weekend!
On Sunday March 25, at 2 p.m., the Park District’s 2012 Annual Ice Show will be presented at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink. There will be group performances showcasing the talent of the skate school students of all ages and levels, including barely-walking tots through axel-jumping, camel-spinning Freestyle 5 participants.
Culminating the three-semester season, this is where enthusiastic family, friends and community members turn out to cheer on the skaters. Each performance is designed around an “Our World” musical theme and students have the opportunity to perform in colorful costumes to proudly demonstrate their recently acquired skills. There will be special guest star performances by Great Neck’s own, Olympians Sarah and Emily Hughes. Sarah won the 2002 Olympic Gold Medal in Women’s Figure Skating and her sister Emily, earned a place on the United States Olympic and World Teams in 2006.
This will surely be an afternoon to remember. This show is sanctioned by the Great Neck Figure Skating Club and the Ice Skating Institute. Cablevision has volunteered their time to televise the event (viewing schedule will be announced).
