The St. Aloysius sixth grade boy’s basketball team is doing its best to adhere to the unofficial motto of the Super Bowl Champion New York Giants. Just like the Giants, “finish strong” has been the team’s rallying cry for several weeks and after compiling back-to-back victories over St. Peters of Port Washington to conclude their regular season, the team finds itself poised to imitate the Giant’s playoff run as they gear up for tournament play in early March.
While a tournament championship would surely be the season’s crowning achievement, a loss cannot tarnish the fine play and exemplary sportsmanship displayed by team members Adam Bernstein, Josh Gal, Jake Glueck, Charlie Goodwin, Noah Hakimian, Joey Jacobs, Justin Lau, Gabe Lefkowitz, Avery Nabavian, Aaron Praknoush, Andi Reiss, Matthew Solomon and Brian Volk.
The St. Aloysius CYO basketball program currently has multiple teams participating in the fifth through eighth grade divisions of the CYO of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. All children attending Great Neck public schools are eligible to participate. Try-outs for the upcoming fall season will be held this spring. Additional details will be provided at a later date.
