Wolverines Roster Finalized

The Great Neck Wolverines High School Hockey Team, sponsored by Great Neck PAL, has finished putting together their roster for the 2011-2012 season. The team has just the right mix of veteran leadership with youthful enthusiasm that promises to make this and future seasons fun and successful for all.  There are 19 players on this year’s roster.

The team is led by returning seniors Cory Zelniker and Brandon Shapiro, they are joined by newcomer senior goaltender Raymond Coscia.  The six juniors and eight sophomores make up the heart and soul of the Wolverines. They are strong contributors currently, and as we look to the future, they will be the core of the next couple of seasons. The returning juniors are Ben Todaro, Robert Campbell, Bradley Rutkin, and Jonathan Shapero. They are joined this season by newcomers Jack Schildkraut and goaltender Daniel Maggio. Second time sophomore Wolverines include: Jordan Zelniker, Ryan King, Jared Gany,  Max Latin, Jordan Domnitch and Dagoberto Rodriguez. The first year sophmores are Jake Horowitz and Ian Lam. The Wolverines are rounded out by the addition of two freshman.  The freshmen always represent the future of any organization.  In the case of the  Wolverines, there is a lot to look forward to with the addition of Jarett Greben and Gavin Schwartz. Finally, the players and parents are fortunate to again have the services of Great Neck’s own Blaine Aronovitch as their head coach.  Not only does Blaine have a great understanding of the game, but he also has been around these players as they have grown and he is a great asset to the Wolverines.

The team will have had seven weeks of intense practices and one road game before their big opener right here at Parkwood on Monday, Nov. 7 vs. East Williston.  If you haven’t been to the rink this fall, it will be a great chance to check out the new stands and cheer for Great Neck.  The Wolverines look forward to seeing everyone at the rink.

Go Wolverines!
