Who needs football? For the second year in a row Monday night is Hockey Night in Great Neck. The Great Neck Wolverines High School Hockey Team, sponsored by Great Neck PAL, will be playing their home games right here in Great Neck thanks to the Great Neck Park District. The team will be competing in 21 league games, and 8 of them will be at the Parkwood facility. All games will start promptly at 8:15 p.m.
The opener is scheduled for Nov. 7 vs. East Williston; on Nov. 21 a tough team from Oceanside comes to town. Our post Thanksgiving guests will be Bethpage on Nov.28, followed by Cold Spring Harbor before the holiday break on Dec. 19. To open the home schedule in 2012, Great Neck is hosting a familiar rival from Port Washington on Jan. 9. In late January, Massapequa and Garden City come calling on the 23rd and 30th. To wrap up the season before playoffs (hopefully), Great Neck will host Jericho on Feb.6.
The Wolverines continue to work their tails off in practice and are building for a tremendous season. The team loves the support that they get here in hockey town, and they all look forward to seeing you at the rink.
