As a new set of elections draws near next month, and three Great Neck villages prepare for those elections (including three contested elections in Kings Point), the Great Neck Record reminds our readers that there are specific guidelines for submitting an election time letter to the editor. To be considered for publication, letters should be limited to 300-400 words (one quarter page is roughly 400 words). Letters longer than this may not be used or may be shortened by the editor without contacting the writer. We also may edit letters for legal reasons or grammar without contacting the writer.
In the last issue before an election, only letters expressing support for candidates will be accepted.
Generally speaking, letters from candidates will not be printed. However, there may be times when a letter from a candidate is warranted - a judgment call on our part.
As usual, letters must include an address and daytime phone number for verification. (This information will not be published.)
And, as always, all submissions to the Record, including letters, must be sent electronically. Please send your letter in a Word attachment to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
To ensure that your letter is published, please refer to these guidelines.
Thank you.
