Nat Hoffman, aged 93, formerly of Lake Success, passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, 2009 at his home in Laguna Woods, CA. Known for his warmth, integrity and a great sense of humor, Nat was a staunch supporter of peace and equality for all people. He served the peace and civil rights movements in many ways, through his work and his life, including performing alternative service as a conscientious objector during WWII. Nat was a partner at Garlick & Hoffman, CPAs, and later Edward Isaacs & Co., CPAs, until his retirement in 1992, when he and his wife, Lotte, moved to California.
Nat is survived by his beloved wife of 61 year, Lotte (nee Goldberg); their three children, Carol, Peter and Janice; Carol’s partner Russ Jennings; Nat’s daughter’s daughter-in-law Pam Hoffman; three grandsons, Jeremy, Adam and Daniel; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his three siblings, Milton Hoffman, Bert Witt and Pearl Mandel.
A memorial service will be held on Dec. 25 at 3 p.m. at University Synagogue, 3400 Michelson Dr., Irvine, CA. His remains will be interred and a memorial service held at Ferncliff Cemetery in Westchester, NY, at a date to be announced.
