Pearl Malcus, 88 years young, widow of William Malcus, died July 30, 2011 while visiting her daughter in Connecticut. Pearl grew up in the Bronx but had lived in Great Neck for more than 50 years.
Pearl was a dedicated participant in her community throughout her life. She was very involved with Pioneer Women for many years and a volunteer at the North Shore University Rehabilitation and Center for Extended Care for 10 years. She was an avid reader who remained a strong supporter of her local Lakeville branch library where she participated in a monthly book group. Pearl was also an active member in the Great Neck Senior Center and sang soprano in their singing group. Singing was her greatest joy and she always looked forward to her weekly singing class. She also enjoyed knitting and loved going to movies and performances at the Great Neck House and concerts at Steppingstone Park with friends. She cherished her family and friends and was an inspiration and a spark of energy to all who knew her.
She is survived by many loving relatives including her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Debbie; and her daughter and grandsons Barbara, Justin and Miles.
