Once again the Great Neck School District received a host of gifts and donations. All were recently approved and accepted by the Board of Education at school board public action meetings.
Eight donations were received for the Robotics Club, to help offset some of the many costs associated with running a successful robotics program. Donations were sent from: the Rotary Club of Gold Coast, Cathy Sung, Stephen and Beth Wolf, Joel and Ellen Dressner, Jay and Judi Bosworth, Edith Novick and Dmitriy Tokar, Gary and Bianna Gal, Scott and Barbara Erlich and Jill A. Krieger.
Several donations were received for the Harriet Miller Girls’ Empowerment Scholarship. Donations were made by Eugene and Amy Goldin, Rhonda Rieger, Ellen Goltzer, Stacey Rapp and Diana Murad.
Leon Farms, LLC, a locally owned family business, donated $1,750 to support the technology department at Great Neck South Middle School, to provide the school with start-up money for a Lego Robotics Club to begin in the 2013-2014 school year. The South Middle School administration said that the gift would be “very much appreciated.”
The Great Neck South Middle School Korean PTA donated $150 to the school, representing an award the students received for their performance at the Korean Performing Arts Center this past February. The goal is for the donation to support the school’s cultural heritage celebration event scheduled for next February.
The E.M. Baker Elementary School PTA donated $4,000 to purchase a greenhouse to be placed on the school’s grounds, behind the school building. The Baker administration indicated that this would be a very beneficial gift.
