Lifestyle Habits for a Healthier You. The old paradigm for weight loss is insufficient for most of us. We deprive ourselves for a while then find out that we soon go back to old habits and gain the weight back. In this enlightening lecture, Marie Regis discusses the real health issues which need to be addressed if we are to come back to and maintain our ideal weight. Her lecture will include a discussion of lifestyle factors as they affect our health as we age. Marie Regis is a licensed acupuncturist and the founder of the Acupuncture and Wellness Center. The Steppingstone Blessing of the Fleet Committee, a partnership between the Great Neck Park District, the Steppingstone Yacht Club and the Stepping Stone Sailing Club, invites the entire community to its 13th Annual Blessing of the Fleet. The special festivities take place at the dock in Steppingstone Park beginning at noon (rain or shine). The Blessing of the Fleet is intended to serve as a commemorative celebration marking the opening of the boating season. Open to all local mariners, from Great Neck and surrounding communities. Vessels will rendezvous north of the mooring field in preparation for the parade of vessels. Monitor VHF Channel 71.

The Great Neck Historical Society presents a slide lecture on The Vanderbilt Cup Races presented by Howard Kroplick from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the main branch of the Great Neck Library. The William K. Vanderbilt Jr. Cup Races were early automobile events held on Long Island from 1904 to 1910. They were the most prestigious sporting events of their day and had an impact on the development of American autos and parkways. A part of the original Motor Parkway in the Lake Success area still remains, undisturbed. In addition to the race, the parkway and autos, the presentation will focus on William K. Vanderbilt Jr. whose stately home in Lake Success still stands. All are welcome. Admission is free.
