Founded in 1979 by a group of women reflecting the Women’s Movement whose avowed purpose is to help women at various points in their lives when they need assistance and support. The goal of Womanspace is to provide a place where women gather to share concerns about their changing roles in society. A wide range of community conferences have involved such institutions as Hofstra University, Queens College and Great Neck Adult Education covering such issues as: Health, Global Feminism, Building An Intergenerational Community and a Multi-Ethnic Conference. Memoir writing has also become a popular activity giving women the opportunity to express themselves in a literary fashion.
