Ofer Cohen’s moving documentary Power of Bro tells the remarkable story of the two Yaari brothers, born in Israel where a timeless bond was formed. The annual election for members of the Great Neck Library Board of Trustees and Nominating Committee is uncontested and will be held from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Residents living North of Northern Boulevard, vote at the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue. Residents living South of Northern Boulevard, vote at the Parkville Branch, 10 Campbell Street (off Lakeville Road), New Hyde Park.

Tuesdays With REAP

REAP, retired, energetic, active  people, meets Tuesdays at the Cumberland School, 30  Cumberland Avenue in Great Neck.  At 9 a.m. Ron Ullmann will lead a discussion on Urban Sprawl.  At 10:30 a.m. we begin our business meeting with “My Opinion” presented by Ellen Rosen. The play The Sunshine Boys will be enacted by our own Reader’s Theatre, produced and directed by Stanley Goldfarb. Bring your lunch if you like as we break at 11:45 a.m. to eat together.  A current events discussion always follows lunch; this week it  will be led by Bernard Saper. Refreshments are served!

Free Senior ID Card Program

The program offers seniors an ID card with their photo, name, address, birthdate, phone number, emergency contact name and phone number to keep in their wallet in the event of an emergency. Each person will receive a bag of information regarding programs and services that Nassau County offers to its seniors. The program is free of charge to residents. From noon to 3 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.

 

Halloween Magic Show

The Great Neck Park Districts presents a Halloween Magic Show at Great Neck House from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. All are welcome.

Park District Halloween Skate Sessions

The Great Neck Park District offers Halloween public ice skaing sessions at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink for all ages from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. and from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. for ages 8 and up. Admission is free with a costume.

Special REAP Program

REAP, retired, energetic, active people, will host a special program on Nov. 12, a discussion with Alfred Ronzoni Jr. on Franlin D. Roosevelt’s Second Bill of Rights. Mr. Ronzoni is a trustee of the Greater Astoria Historical Society.  This event is made possible through a new program of the N.Y. Council for the Humanities. REAP meets each Tuesday at the Cumberland School, 30 Cumberland Avenue, Great Neck.  Refreshments served!

 

St. Aloysius Citizenship Drive

St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church will hold another citizenship drive at the church, 592 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck, on Thursday, Nov. 7, 1 to 8 p.m., in the church’s social hall. Assistance is available by appointment only. Call 867-3580.

 

Dance Party At Emanuel 

On Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m, Emanuel throws the best Dance Party on Long Island with everyone’s favorite DJ/dance instructor Louis Del Prete. Manhasset-Lakeville Fire And Water Districts Board Of Commissioners  

The board meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. every month. All meetings are conducted in the boardroom at the district office, 170 East Shore Rd., unless otherwise publicly notified. Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The board is available on a daily basis to respond to concerns, questions and issues of the district residents pertaining to fire/water district matters.
