Der Yiddisher Pirates of Penzance Musical

The Gilbert & Sullivan Yiddish Light Opera Co. of Long Island perform Der Yiddisher Pirates of Penzance (Di Yam Gazlonim) at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue. This is a delightful story of Frederick, an apprentice to a soft-hearted band of pirates. Hearing Britishisms coming out as Yiddishisms has people roar with laughter.

LI Maritime History: Stories of Tragedy and Rescue presented by Eco-Photo Explorers will be presented by Christopher P. Weaver and Michael Salvarezza. They will present Long Island’s rich maritime history - tragic shipwrecks, heroic rescues, and unbelievable courage at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.

 

Tuesdays With REAP

REAP, retired, energetic, active  people meets Tuesdays at the Cumberland School, 30  Cumberland Avenue, Great Neck.  At 9 a.m. Miriam Colistra will lead a discussion on Irish & German Immigrants in the Civil War. At 10:30 a.m. there is a business meetingh with  “My Opinion” presented by Roberta Shaw. The “Civil War Symposium” continues with an informative and vibrant speaker. Bring your lunch if you like; break at 11:45  a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for about an hour. Current events discussion will be led by Lillian Zamora.  Refreshments will be served!

Haunted Hotels of the Catskills

In this slide presentation, Long Island historian and best-selling author Monica Randall will review the great hotels and luxury resorts of the past century and visit the haunting ruins that remain today at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.

DiNapoli At Temple Emanuel

New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli will speak at Temple Emanuel of Great Neck at 7:30 p.m. He will speak on: “The State of Our State: The Comptroller¹s Perspective. Special REAP Program

REAP, retired, energetic, active people, will host a special program on Nov. 12, a discussion with Alfred Ronzoni Jr. on Franlin D. Roosevelt’s Second Bill of Rights. Mr. Ronzoni is a trustee of the Greater Astoria Historical Society.  This event is made possible through a new program of the N.Y. Council for the Humanities. REAP meets each Tuesday at the Cumberland School, 30  Cumberland Avenue, Great Neck.  Refreshments served!

Manhasset-Lakeville Fire And Water Districts Board Of Commissioners  

The board meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. every month. All meetings are conducted in the boardroom at the district office, 170 East Shore Rd., unless otherwise publicly notified. Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The board is available on a daily basis to respond to concerns, questions and issues of the district residents pertaining to fire/water district matters.
