Shirley Romaine will present “Bitter Herbs & Honey” at Temple Emanuel of Great Neck at 3 p.m. “Bitter Herbs and Honey,” by and with Shirley Romaine, is a celebration of the gifts of Yiddish, Israeli and American Jewish women writers, poets, composers and singers; actress Romaine’s taste and talent triumph, as she captures the essence of each selection, by turns tender, nostalgic, passionate, angry, wise and amusing. HarvestFest

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., celebrate at the Great Neck Park District’s HarvestFest in the Village Green with activities such as arts & crafts, musical entertainment, hay rides, petting zoo, pony rides, our new monkey motion and more. Admission is free for Park District residents with a valid park card. This event is co-sponsored by the Village of Great Neck.

Tuesdays With REAP

REAP, retired, energetic, active people meets Tuesdays at the Cumberland School, 30  Cumberland Avenue. At 9 a.m. a significant issue will be presented by Clara Woll. At 10:30 a.m. everyone is invited to the regular business meeting. “My Opinion” will be a subject of importance led by Howard Needleman.”Civil War Symposium” is the topic to follow. So please drop by and join us. Bring your lunch if you like as we break at 11:45 a.m.  to 12:30 to eat.  Roundtable on current events follows lunch, to be lead by Ben Lashansky. Coffee, tea and refreshments are served, as always.

Property Tax Exemptions With Charles Berman, Tax Receiver

Join Charles Berman, Town of North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes, as he discusses STAR, senior citizens, veterans and other exemptions that could help you lower your property taxes. Staff members will be on hand with applications for your convenience. He will also discuss the new Basic STAR Registration Program that will affect everyone with a 2013-2014 Basic STAR exemption at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue.

Manhasset-Lakeville Fire And Water Districts Board Of Commissioners  

The board meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. every month. All meetings are conducted in the boardroom at the district office, 170 East Shore Rd., unless otherwise publicly notified. Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The board is available on a daily basis to respond to concerns, questions and issues of the district residents pertaining to fire/water district matters.
