Library Workshop For Teens

The Great Neck Library will feature Stranger Than Fiction: Art of Storytelling Creative Workshop 2 for Teens with Josh Farrar, a young adult author/musician at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library at 159 Bayview Avenue in Great Neck. Farrar will get deeper into the storytelling process and the decisions writers make when crafting a story, and lead a fun writing activity where you get to plot a story of your own. Tuesdays With REAP

REAP, retired, energetic, active, professionals meet every Tuesday at the Cumberland School, 30  Cumberland Avenue, Great Neck. At 9 a.m. various members will discuss significant issues.  A business meeting begins at 10:30 a.m.  Jerry Peretsman, president, will discuss a

timely short topic in My Opinion.  Our speaker for the day is Det. Lt. Gary Shapiro who will present, “Hate Crimes.” Lunch takes place about noon, so feel free to join us and bring your lunch. Current events roundtable follows lunch, led by Lori Reich.  Refreshments are served.

Project Hope: Hurricane Season

Project Hope: Be Empowered, Get Prepared: Helping Your Family Prepare for Hurricane Season will see Project Hope counselors will talk about how to prepare for this year’s hurricane season at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Main Library, 159 Bayview Avenue. Project Hope is a confidential crisis counseling service with linkage to free community resources. If you are unavailable during this time frame, call 516 870-1605 to schedule a private, confidential and free appointment with a crisis counselor, who can meet with you at your home, temporary residence, or a public meeting spot that is comfortable for you at a time that works for you.

Park District Mobile Rec Van

The Great Neck Park District’s mobile rec van activities begin today and continue through Aug. 16 at Firefighter’s Park at Grace Avenue from 1 to 3 p.m. and at Cuttermill Park on Great Neck Road from 4 to 6 p.m. Call 482-0355 for more information.

Manhasset-Lakeville Fire And Water Districts Board Of Commissioners  

The board meets every Tuesday and Thursday at 5 p.m. every month. All meetings are conducted in the boardroom at the district office, 170 East Shore Rd., unless otherwise publicly notified. Regular office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The board is available on a daily basis to respond to concerns, questions and issues of the district residents pertaining to fire/water district matters.
