Dance Visions of Great Neck announces the premiere of its unique dance/theater program: “The Creative Spirit: Future Past Present.” The program is a unique mix of dance and theater conceived and under the direction of Beth Jucovy. This timely and innovative work was developed collaboratively with the performers. Characters, from the future present a “history lesson” and embody seven present day women who span in age over seven decades. The work shares a deep and personal look at the views and attitudes of these women expressed through movement, music, including live original piano works, media and text. Topics explored include spirituality, discipline, conformity, love, loss and creativity. In addition, Ms. Jucovy’s choreography is represented with her works “Blurred Boundaries” and “Wind Sonnet.” Yuki Ishiguro’s choreography is represented in his solo Another World. The programs are free: May 5 at 2 p.m. at the Elmont Library (354 -5280); May 6 at 2 p.m. at the Jericho Library (935-6790). Performers in the program include dancers, actors and musicians, Cathleen Deustcher, Rebecca Greenbaum, Yuki Ishiguro, Beth Jucovy, Nichole Piacenza, Adrienne Ramm, Shirley Romaine and Christina Stampolis.

Nassau County Legislators Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) and Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) are hosting an important community meeting on sewer privatization. County Executive Ed Mangano’s plan to sell the county’s sewer system to a private company will be heavily discussed, as the legislators will divulge important information regarding its implementation. The legislators look forward to hearing the community’s thoughts on Mangano’s plan and sharing facts about why this is a bad idea for Nassau taxpayers.
