Atria Cutter Mill, 96 Cutter Mill Rd., presents a concert by the renowned woodwind quintet, L’Amore Della Musica, from 2 to 3 p.m. Formed in 2004, L’Amore della Musica is an expressive voice in performing wind ensembles. Its five members, from greater New York orchestras and opera associations, came together to explore the intricacies and special challenges of the chamber repertoire with an emphasis on the excitement and colors of the woodwind quintet. The themes of harmony, vitality and musical imagery are hallmarks of L’Amore’s musical message. The concert is free and open to the public; reservations are recommended. The U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Alumni Association and Foundation will be celebrating the Golden Jubilee (50th Anniversary) of the dedication of the Mariners’ Memorial Chapel with a multi-denominational ceremony in the chapel. The chapel is built to commemorate the sacrifices of the officers and men of the United States Merchant Marine who gave their lives at sea in World Wars I and II. 2:30 p.m. The ceremony will be preceded by a fireboat salute at 2 p.m. The public is invited.

Dance Visions of Great Neck announces the premiere of its unique dance/theater program: The Creative Spirit: Future Past Present. The program is a unique mix of dance and theater conceived and under the direction of Beth Jucovy. This timely and innovative work was developed collaboratively with the performers. Characters, from the future present a “history lesson” and embody seven present day women who span in age over seven decades. The work shares a deep and personal look at the views and attitudes of these women expressed through movement, music including live original piano works, media and text. Topics explored include spirituality, discipline, conformity, love, loss and creativity. In addition, Ms. Jucovy’s choreography is represented with her works Blurred Boundaries and Wind Sonnet. Yuki Ishiguro’s choreography is represented in his solo Another World. The programs are free. May 5 at 2 p.m. at the Elmont Library (354 -5280); May 6 at 2 p.m. at the Jericho Library (935-6790).
