The first stage of the design process for a renovated Main library building is in full swing. On April 7, the building committee chaired by Andrew Greene met with Dattner architects, Daniel Heuberger and Ernesto Vela to review the results from interviews the architects had held with staff members in all the library's departments.

Every year, hundreds of Long Islanders find themselves homeless because of disasters like house fires. And though the American Red Cross cannot replace all that has been lost, its volunteers are able to provide food, shelter and comfort to those affected.

The Great Neck PAL lacrosse team began its 2009 season with a well played 8-3 loss to neighboring New Hyde Park. "This year's team is a terrific mix of returning sixth-graders and rookie fifth-graders," said Artie Diamond, coach and PAL lacrosse director.
