The girls travel soccer team, known as the Great Neck Jaguars, comprised of fourth graders from all of the Great Neck elementary schools, started their training last month in order to get ready for the upcoming Spring season and Long Island's Waldbaum's Cup. This past Saturday, the Jaguars participated in the first round of the 2009 Waldbaum's Cup Tournament, and although the team was not with its full squad, the Jaguars' commitment and dedication in each of their practices showed by prevailing 3-0 over a quality team from Manhasset. "What a remarkable game" said Michael Lamoretti, the team's parent manager.
The Jaguars' first game of the regular season is set for this Saturday, March 28, against the Big Apple Black Panthers at the Panthers' home field; the rest of the Jaguars' soccer schedule is published at www.lijsoocer.com. We hope that the Great Neck community will come out and support these soccer girls as the Jaguars begin a new season, showing their love of soccer in every game they play, win or lose. Go Jaguars!
