The Great Neck Chamber of Commerce is set to host its Annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday evening, Jan. 28, at Melville Hall, the Officers' Club, at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point. This year there is a most impressive group of honorees who will be recognized for their outstanding community leadership.

Ralph A. Nappi of the North Shore-LIJ Health System Foundation will receive the Jesse Markel Award. The Robert E. Freedman Retailer Award will go to Phil Raices of Turn Key Real Estate, and also to Frank Longo and John DiMartino of Great Neck Chemists. Great Neck's own Murray Seeman, a longtime local attorney, will receive the Business Person of the Year Award. And former North Hempstead town supervisor, May Newburger (currently heading the Nassau County Planning Federation), will be honored with the Chamber of Commerce's Lifetime Achievement Award.

With such an impressive list of honorees, Chamber of Commerce President Valerie Link is especially delighted to invite the entire Great Neck community to this event. "Please come and honor those who work so hard for us," said Ms. Link. "At a time when everyone worries about the financial crisis, let's help boost our own local economy by supporting all of our businesses through the Chamber of Commerce."

The evening will include cocktails and dinner and you must RSVP by Jan. 21. The event is $85 per person, and tickets can be purchased via the Chamber of Commerce's website at; by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 487-2000 (leave message if no one is there); or writing to the Great Neck Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 220432, Great Neck, New York 11022. For security reasons, tickets will not be sold at the door the evening of the dinner.

The cocktail hour, with an open bar, opens the evening at 6:30 p.m. Dinner, with a cash bar, begins at 7:30 p.m. Music will be provided by Willy Sacco. Business attire is requested and the evening is open to all.
