While the Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education works exceptionally hard this year, wrestling with its budget in the midst of our nation's extremely disastrous financial times, it is our job here in Great Neck to make it very clear that we support our children --- that we support our schools and our school board, and that we support our school budget.
Board of Education President Barbara Berkowitz, Vice President Fran Langsner, and Trustees Donald Ashkenase, Lawrence Gross and Susan Miner-Healy have all pledged to once again maintain our first-class educational programs, all the while taking every step to be as fiscally prudent as is possible. That will be no easy task in light of the current financial crisis, but with the experience and dedication of this board, working with Superintendent of Schools Ronald Friedman and his staff, we are confident that our children are in safe hands.
A difficult year awaits us all, but it is our great hope that we will be able to continue to place our children, our future, first. We must!
Please take the time to keep up with our school district and learn more about our schools and the budget process. Once you have the knowledge of this fine educational opportunity open to each Great Neck child, and once you can see just how vital each budget item is to this educational program, you will be amazed and impressed at how our Board of Education will handle their job. And you will then know how crucial it is to vote "yes" to the school budget come May.
Support our children! Support the Great Neck Public Schools! It's the least we can do for the future!
