Rain rain go away, come again another day! Although the 24th Annual Girl Scouts of Nassau County 'Go for the Green' golf outing was rained out on Aug. 11 the rain certainly stayed away for the make-up date on Oct. 2. To top off a beautiful fall day, full of golf and festivities at the North Hempstead Country Club in Upper Brookville, the golf outing raised more than $100,000!

Honoree Lisa DiFilippi.

"We are so grateful for all the golfers, sponsors and supporters, especially Lisa DiFilippi, vice president of Alure Home Improvement, who came out for a beautiful day of golf in support of our organization," said Donna Ceravolo, executive director, Girl Scouts of Nassau County. "Their generosity makes it possible for the more than 22,000 Girl Scouts in Nassau County to experience the fun and sisterhood of Girl Scouting."_ _

The day began with golfers participating in the open driving range and putting green. Brunch was served at 10 a.m. followed by a shotgun start and an on-course lunch. After golf was complete, attendees relaxed and networked at the cocktail reception. Many attendees walked away with gifts from raffles prizes, silent auction items, and hole-in-one prizes. _

Proceeds from the golf outing will be used to support the Girl Scouts of Nassau County's Financial Assistance Program. The program works to eliminate financial barriers to Girl Scouts who wish to participate in all aspects of Scouting. Financial aid is available to girls in need to help them purchase uniforms, attend camp, travel, and participate in all Girl Scouting activities. _ _

During the event, guests purchased 17 camperships to help girls go to camp next summer. Camperships provide the chance for low-income girls to meet peers from outside their immediate community. Camperships are vital in helping girls experience Girl Scouting, while developing leadership skills they will need for the future._ _The Girl Scouts of Nassau County also honored Lisa DiFilippi for her commitment to her community, drive and enthusiasm for Girl Scouting._ _

The Girl Scouts of Nassau County would like to extend special thanks go to all of their sponsors.
