As the Town of North Hempstead's July Summer Concert series concludes, the August Summer Concert series commences. Residents turned out in droves to many of the July Summer Concerts, including 4,000 residents at The Cast of Beatlemania and 5,000 at a performance by the Persian Pop-Star, AFSHIN.

The August Summer Concert series promises to be just as spectacular. We hope to continue to make this a memorable summer for you, your family and your friends.

On Aug. 8, Kid Kyle with the Chiclettes will perform at Clinton G. Martin Park at 7:30 p.m., a night that promises to be spectacular as the child superstar Kyle Flandrau performs doo-wop hits along side the female rock stars of The Chiclettes. On Aug. 10, The Projekt will perform at North Hempstead Beach Park at 1 p.m., offering an 11-piece wedding band with a fresh, full and hip sound from its very talented singers and musicians. On Aug. 12, Michael Cross and David Sear will play at Clark Botanic Garden at 7 p.m., in a concert that fans of folk songs will remember forever.

On August 15, Herman's Hermit starring Peter Noone will play at Manorhaven Beach Park at 7:30 p.m. Peter achieved international fame as "Herman," lead singer of the legendary '60s pop band Herman's Hermits, and will delight fans of all ages.

On Aug. 17, The Cavaliers will perform at North Hempstead Beach Park at 1 p.m., offering original and former members from the most popular acts of the '50s and '60s.

On Aug. 24, East Coast will perform at North Hempstead Beach Park at 1 p.m., offering an eclectic repertoire including tributes to George Gershwin, John Coltrane, Dave Mathews, Frank Sinatra, Mary J. Blige and many more.

North Hempstead continues to offer free movies beginning on Aug. 21 with a Drive-In Movie showing of the action-packed robotic thriller Transformers at North Hempstead Beach Park at 8:45 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 23, a free showing of Game Plan, a comedy about an NFL quarterback discovering that he has an 8-year-old daughter, will play at Martin "Bunky" Reid Park at 8:15 p.m.

On Wednesday, Aug. 27 a free showing of Bee Movie, an animated film about a bee who just graduated from three days of college, will play at Clinton G. Martin Park at 8:30 p.m.

We hope you and your loved ones enjoy all of the fabulous concerts and events during the month of August. The Town of North Hempstead will continue its goal in making our town into one dynamic and active community.
