Long Island Business News will host its fourth annual Golf Classic on Monday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Brookville Country Club in Glen Head. All proceeds from the outing will benefit Long Island Business News' Endowed Scholarship Fund at Hofstra University, which provides a financial award towards tuition for a masters-level student.
Established in 2004, the scholarship fund offers Long Island's brightest future leaders the opportunity for a great education locally at Hofstra and an incentive to remain in the Long Island workforce. Based on the success of previous outings, a large turnout is expected for this fun-filled day. This year's outing will include 18 holes of golf with a cart and caddy, brunch, an on-course lunch, a cocktail reception and elegant surf and turf dinner. Additionally, there will be raffles, a silent auction, hole-in-one prizes, and plenty of other on-course surprises!
Prices for the golf outing are $500 for individual golfers and $1,800 for each foursome. For those who prefer not to play golf, the cocktail hour begins at 5:30 p.m., and a surf and turf buffet will be available during the dinner reception and award program. Price to attend is $85 per person.
Honorees for the 2008 Golf Classic are Donna Gathard and Larry I. Slatsky. Ms. Gathard, this year's Businessperson of the Year, is president of All Service Electric and was recognized by Long Island Business News as one of the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Business at its May 15 gala. Mr. Slatsky, this year's Lifetime Achievement Honoree, is senior vice president for the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility.
