Howard R. Weinberger, of Great Neck, died on July 13, 2008 after a long illness. He was 84. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maxine, a long time resident; four children, five grandchildren and a sister. Over the course of their 34-year marriage, Howard and Maxine made many friends and the service at Riverside Chapel was given to a packed house.

Howard was a CPA and a graduate of NYU. He served in WWII and returned with a Purple Heart.

He was a patron of the performing arts, a lover of opera, theater and the Philharmonic. Howard's unquenchable curiosity kept him a student throughout his long life and he was still taking educational courses until shortly before his death. Howard's interest in different people, cultures and cuisine took him and Maxine around the world but he remained happiest when surrounded by family while grilling a steak.

Howard will be remembered by his friends and family for his decency, humor, selflessness and honesty. His strong work ethic and high tolerance for frustration kept him going without complaint during these last difficult years.

Howard's grandchildren will always remember private time spent on "papa's" lap while playing with his adding machine. They will also remember his notable efforts to share their varied interests, which included dogs, music, politics, sports, cars, video games and ballet.

Though strongly opinionated, Howard was never judgmental and he was always the family's "go to guy." His place at the helm and in our hearts will be ever remembered and terribly missed.

Leonard Lambert, 80, of Great Neck Plaza, died on July 22, 2008. He was president of Seaboard Systems - Business Forms. Husband of Audrey. Father of Jill Lambert and Peter Lambert. Son of the late Sidney Lipshy and Rose Lipshy. Brother of Marilyn Newman Gorman. He will be missed.

Services were held on July 25. Mr. Lambert was cremated.
