Restaurant Week in Great Neck was a major success, as far as we are concerned. Seeing friends, neighbors and visitors out and about all week was wonderful. And the delighted crowds dining out on Bond Street on that fabulous Thursday, was just the best! What better way to show off our restaurants and our town! What better way to draw diners and shoppers, new and old, to our wonderful community!
Restaurants bustled with business all week long, from June 1 to June 8. And when Bond Street was closed on Thursday, June 5, the inviting, balmy evening was matched only by the laughter and compliments that flowed well into the night. People of all ages walked up and down Bond Street, chatting, listening to the fun music, and eating outside at a number of restaurants. From the older couple dancing so beautifully, right on Bond Street, to my baby granddaughter who giggled all evening when Plaza Trustee Gerry Schneiderman tied balloons to her stroller, everyone had a wonderful time.
We congratulate the Village of Great Neck Plaza and the BID (Business Improvement District) for this fabulous weeklong event. We urge Plaza Mayor Jean Celender and her trustees to get together with Ron Edelson and the BID and consider closing Bond Street at least a few more times this summer. We heard absolutely no complaints --- just kudos. Why not host some more great summer nights under the stars right here at home!
Thanks to all for a fun week ... and here's to wishing for more to come!
