After a very successful "Trolley Into the Past" community event, what does the Great Neck Historical Society have planned next?

A peek into the attics of Great Neck and the fascinating memorabilia that some people have stashed. Even though professional organizers are begging the savers among us to discard those things we don't look at, don't use, and don't wear, thankfully, there are people who have clung to Great Neck's past by collecting and saving treasures from another era. The society is hoping that many of these items will be dusted off and brought to the Main Library on April 9 starting at 7:45 p.m. for a community-wide show and tell.

Society member Alice Kasten says, "We can't wait to see these gems and learn their history. Some of the expected finds include milk and soda bottles, postcards, theatre programs, yearbooks, real estate deeds, photos and special treasures which we can't even imagine!"

She adds, "Don't worry if you don't know the history of your local bit of history. Someone is bound to be able to help, as we will have some very knowledgeable local historians present."

For further information or to talk about an item you might wish to bring, call Leila Mattson at the library at 466-8055 x220 or Alice Kasten at 466-8954.
