Nassau County Executive Tom Suozzi told the Great Neck Record that he "absolutely" does not want to take over the parks in the Great Neck Park District. Mr. Suozzi said that towns and villages are better equipped to provide such services in a more cost effective manner. He noted that the county is working to divest itself of parks (i.e. giving them to towns), not taking on more. Speaking at a Democratic Party rally at Ielpi Park in Great Neck last Sunday afternoon, the county executive told the large crowd: " This is a beautiful park; I love it. But I don't want it. I want to make it very clear, Nassau County does not want Great Neck's parks." However, Mr. Suozzi did add, "But I do want your sewers." He said that he does want consolidation of sewer districts and diversion to the county's South Shore facility, which, he told the Record, would save residents a lot of money, tax-wise.
