Herbert J. Waxman, of Coconut Creek, FL, formerly of Great Neck, passed away on July 25, 2007. Beloved husband of the late Vivian K. Waxman. The loving father of Jill Polymeropoulos and Jon Waxman. Dear brother of Cecille Ellner, the late Juliet Sack, the late Joan Buchman and the late Bernard Waxman. Cherished grandfather of Marc Polymeropoulos. Adored great-grandfather of Alexandra and Christopher Polymeropoulos.
He was a founding member, past president and honorary trustee of Temple Emanuel of Great Neck, past member of the board of directors and treasurer of The New York Quarterly Poetry Review, past member of the board of directors of the Great Neck Library, author of Where the Worm Grows Fat; The Poetry and Paintings of Herbert J. Waxman. He was host of a television series, Voices of Poetry with Herbert Waxman.
He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, past president of the Produce Executives Club, contributing poet to The New York Times, the New York Quarterly, Dodeca Magazine and Bitteroot Magazine. He was a columnist for the Produce News. His biography appears in the International Who's Who of Authors and Writers.

Ruth Liggett passed away on July 29, 2007 at Hayim Salomon Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Brooklyn. She was 76. Born in Brooklyn, Ruth Liggett was a longtime resident of Great Neck. She was an active member of the community for many years. She was the devoted mother of Daniel and Harold Liggett and was a loving grandmother. She will be missed by many, especially by her longtime partner Murry (Michael) Ackerman and, of course, her two sons. A small service was held in Great Neck at Riverside-Nassau North Chapel Aug. 1.
