The mayor and trustees of the Village of Great Neck Village have authorized the waiver of all sidewalk repair permit fees ($200) for property owners who plan to repair or replace their sidewalks. They also have reduced by one-half the deposit required to assure that the work is properly completed. This special "sale" will last through Nov. 30.

The law requires each property owner to repair and replace sidewalks on or adjacent to that owner's property.
Mayor Ralph J. Kreitzman stated, "There are many sidewalks in our village that require repair or replacement. Rather than going property to property, giving violation notices and requiring residents and our other property owners to pay fines, we hope this measure will provide a sufficient incentive for all property owners to promptly make their sidewalks safe and attractive."
It should be noted that permits (even if free) and contractor's insurance documents still are required. Any questions about this program can be answered at Village Hall at 61 Baker Hill Road or by calling 482-0019. Permits are issued at Village Hall between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and on Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. until Labor Day and 4:30 p.m. thereafter.
