The Water Authority of Great Neck North takes security at all of its facilities very seriously. In this time of increased awareness in our country, they need and encourage your assistance to be our "eyes and ears" out in the community.
The Authority advises residents that no one is permitted to hook up to a fire hydrant to obtain water for anything other than firefighting purposes. A permit must first be obtained from the Water Authority before anyone is able to use a fire hydrant. If you notice anyone connected to a fire hydrant (other than fire department personnel), please call the Authority at 487-7973 during regular business hours or 482-0210 (our 24-hour emergency phone number) at all other times. When we receive your call, we will immediately dispatch an Authority employee to investigate the report. If a person is found to be using the hydrant without prior authorization, we will notify either the Nassau County Police Department 6th Precinct or the police department having jurisdiction in that particular area.
The Water Authority also requests that if neighbors to our facilities notice any unusual activities in or around that facility, they contact the Authority as soon as possible so we can investigate the occurrence and take proper and prompt action.
Superintendent Robert Graziano notes, "You, the consumer, are an important part of the security effort in our community, and your input is invaluable on all levels. Please join our efforts to protect our most precious resource for generations to come."
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Water Authority at 487-7975, ext. 12.
