This summer there will be a great way to show your support to children with language and communication disorders. The School for Language and Communication Development is hosting a golf outing by the beach with a round of 18 holes, followed by a Steak and Lobster Fest at the beach, for golfers and non-golfers alike. The Eighth Annual Golf Outing will take place on Monday, Aug. 20 at The Creek in Locust Valley.
"This event has become more successful each year," said Lynne Koufakis, event chairwoman and SLCD parent. "It is a great day where people truly open their hearts to our school."
The golf outing will benefit SLCD's programs and services and is an all day event. Registration begins at 10 a.m., along with a brunch and open driving range. Hotgun tee-off is at noon, followed by a cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30 and then dinner at 6:30. Dinner includes a raw bar, steak and lobster, an open bar, entertainment, raffles and a silent auction.
Tickets are $575 per golfer and there are also a variety of sponsorship levels available.
The School for Language and Communication Development was established in 1985 to provide special education services to children with language disorders including those along the autism spectrum continuum. SLCD's program has grown from 36 preschoolers to more than 400 children ages 18 months to 21 years in elementary, middle and high school programs. The School's motto "Language Learning for Lifelong Success" supports its mission to meet the special needs of children unable to speak or communicate.
