April 22, 2007 was a very special day for the 52 skaters on the Parkwood Ice Skating Team. The ISI (Ice Skating Institute) District III "Skate for Knowledge" Championships took place at the Floyd Hall Arena in Little Falls, New Jersey. Arriving a day earlier, the participants prepared to skate their hearts out on Sunday, which proved to be most satisfying. The Parkwood team's hard work paid off. After competing against other teams in the Tri-State area, they came in first place, and were named the 2007 ISI District III Team Champions.

All of the skaters had the opportunity to be in at least one or more events.

The Junior and Senior Synchronized Teams competed in one synchronized event each. Both teams won their event. There was one five-minute production number entitled "High School Musical on Ice" in which 34 skaters participated. It included a medley of songs from the popular movie of the same name. There were also individual, as well as paired events.

The Parkwood Team showed their skill, passion and grace, as they skated to a roaring victory. The trophy that they were awarded is called the Fritz Dietl Memorial Award presented by MIRMA (Metropolitan Ice Rink's Managers Association).

During the skating season, each skater receives points for how they "place" in the competitions they perform in. These points are tracked throughout the season's different competitions. This ISI event is the "Skate for Knowledge" Championship and four of the top placed skaters won a $1,000.00 scholarship each to be put toward a college of their choice.

The Parkwood coaches and teachers couldn't be prouder of their team.
