We would like to take this time to officially congratulate our two new state legislators and welcome them to their new posts. Congratulations to New York State Senator Craig Johnson and to New York State Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel.

Welcome to your new state posts!

But it is hardly a new "welcome" to our community. These two are old friends. Michelle, a longtime Great Neck resident, served for eight years as our North Hempstead town clerk. Craig Johnson from Port Washington has long been a friend to Great Neck, too, as he served as county legislator for a neighboring community and worked for us all in the Nassau County Legislature.

Both Craig Johnson and Michelle Schimel have outstanding records as public servants. Both are eager to get to work, having shown us how they can hit the ground running. We are fortunate to have them now serving us in their new capacities as state legislators. We value their friendships, we trust their commitments.

The Great Neck community looks forward to fruitful years ahead.
