Harry Schachter, 87, of West Orange, NJ, died on Feb. 10, 2007 at Daughter's of Israel Geriatric Center, West Orange. He was born in Brooklyn, lived in Queens and Great Neck for most of his life and came to Northern New Jersey in 2002. He was the president of Schachter and Salles, a New York City apparel manufacturing company for over 40 years retiring several years ago from the family owned business. He was a lifetime member of Temple Israel of Great Neck and attended services at Temple Emanu-El of Closter, NJ.

He was the loving and caring husband for 64 years to Adele. Devoted father of Howard, Robert and Scott Schachter. Most precious grandfather and great-grandfather.

Funeral services at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Home, Livingston, NJ on Feb. 11. The shiva period was at the home of Howard Schachter. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Temple Israel of Great Neck or the Rachel Schachter Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Temple Emanu-El.
