GNPS Seven Intel Semifinalists
Accolades are due Great Neck's seven high school seniors who were named semifinalists in the 2007 Intel Science Talent Search. The Great Neck Public Schools had the largest number of semifinalists of any Long Island district. North High's semifinalists are Zachary Hollander, Benjamin Leibowicz, Joanna Melnick, and Debbie Yee. Semifinalists from South High are Robert Kim, Anna Kurtz, and Victor Wang. Intel, formerly known as the Westinghouse competition, is now considered the most prestigious high school science competition in the country.

CMA 13th Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament
A longtime supporter of Community Mainstreaming Associates (CMA), CBS Coverage Group has agreed for a third year in a row to sponsor the not-for-profit's 13th Annual Golf & Tennis Tournament. The event, one of the organization's most successful fundraising activities, will take place on Monday, May 14 and Monday, May 21, at The Muttontown Club in East Norwich.

Great Neck Park District Hosts the Special Olympics
On Tuesday, Jan. 30, 17 Special Olympic athletes from Nassau, Suffolk and Hudson Valley competed in the Special Olympics. It was held at the Andrew Stergiopoulos Ice Rink at the Parkwood Sports Complex, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. All of the athletes are winners and take home a medal but the athletes who qualify continue to compete in the state games which take place in Syracuse at the end of February.
