The United States Merchant Marine Academy women's swimming and diving team evens their record at three with a 149-102 loss to the Rowan University Profs, just recently.
Jaquelyn Peterson was the double-event winner for the Academy with wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. In the 3-meter event, Peterson scored nine points for the Mariners with 179.63 points. She earned another nine points with her 159.68 score off the 1-meter board.
Junior rookie Marjorie Marino dropped 30 seconds off her 1,000-yard freestyle time with a second place finish and a time of 12:59.26. Freshman Maggie Edwards also competed in the event with a third place time of 13:48.72, dropping 12 seconds off her personal best in the event.
Senior rookie, Cassandra Shadwick dropped 1.5 seconds of her time in the 200-yard breast stroke with her third place finish 3:05.08. She also placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:25.94.
Along with Peterson, senior Morgan Evans was also an event winner for the Mariners with a win in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:31.47.
