In 2007, for the first time in its 11-year history, women will be competing in the prestigious Ball Hockey World Cup. This year's event --- taking place in June in Ratingen, Germany --- will include women's teams from such countries as Canada, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Germany. The USA Women's team was recently formed and includes Great Neck native Becky Antar.
Over the past five years, Women's Ball Hockey has grown significantly throughout the United States. Players named to the 2007 USA team were identified through a comprehensive selection process. Becky played in the 2005 ISBHF World Cup of Ball Hockey and received a silver medal. She played in the North American Championships of Ball Hockey in 2006 and is a member of the nationally ranked Metro Mayhem. Becky played rugby at Harvard University and was a member of the 1998 national championship team. She is presently in her second year at NYU Law School.
The athletes on the USA Women's Ball Hockey team range in age from 18 to 45 and include Olympic gold medalists, students, mothers, lawyers, law enforcement officers, teachers and entrepreneurs.
Are you available one day this week to speak with Becky about her involvement with the USA Women's Ball Hockey team, the growth of ball hockey in the United States, the significance of the upcoming World Cup and her hockey experience?
