On Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 8 and 9, the South High Girls Varsity (GVC) club hosted its 11th Annual Charity Fundraising Tournament. This is an event in which school spirit and competitive desires come together for the benefit of a local charity.
Two hundred students paid $5 to play and additional monies were raised by the selling of home-baked goods and refreshments. As a result of everyone's hard work, the pre-tournament goal of $1,000 was surpassed and the club raised $1,400.
The GVC Executive Board voted to send this year's donation to "Christa House." Previous charities include the Great Neck Special Olympians and the American Red Cross - Katrina Victims Fund.
